She didn’t just tell all. She showed the world how to activate and use it. The secret: an intelligent energy system sleeps in everyone’s sacrum bone.
The ancients, in Sanskrit language, named the energy kundalini. The Merriam-Webster dictionary defines it as “The yogic life force that is . . . . coiled at the base of the spine until it is aroused and sent to the head to trigger enlightenment.” For thousands of years seers, saints and gurus hinted at its existence and a few seekers had it awakened after years of ascetic cleansing. But little was known about its physiology; its usefulness remained shrouded in mystery. Then, in 1970, the lady in the photograph began a grass roots movement that easily awakened the kundalini in thousands of people world-wide. And, being a universal mother, she enabled those thousands of awakened people to wake up this spiritual energy in thousands more. She also created a simple program of daily meditation and treatments called Sahaja Yoga Meditation so people could use their new energy to remove negativity from their emotional, mental and physical anatomy. Today, massive numbers in over 90 countries have embraced her teachings and achieved a more balanced and joyful state of being. ( Programs are on line now during Covid; to find a Sahaja Meditation class that fits your schedule, see https://www.meetup.com/topics/sahaja-meditation.)
WHO IS SHE?
Born into a Christian family in India in 1923, her birth name of Nirmala Salve changed to Nirmala Srivastava through marriage, and upon achieving spiritual eminence, she became Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi. There is a wonderful website where you can check out the details of her life at http://www.shrimataji.org.
But I want to share with you what its like to be in her presence.I received self-realization (kundalini awakening) from a public library program from somebody that had their awakening a few weeks before. It was months later when I met the Great Mother or Shri Mataji for the first time when she came to New York City. By then, I had cleaned some negativity out of my central nervous system by meditating for 10 minutes every day. I was able to feel the vibrations that flow from people on my palms; sometimes a flow of cool wind, sometimes warm or sometimes weak. But when Shri Mataji entered the small room where 50 of us were gathered to greet her there was a blast of cold air. It felt like extreme air conditioning had been turned on but we were in an old home with no a/c nor fans. As we settled down to hear her speech, the force of vibrations flooded my entire being inside. It was an invasion of pure, unconditional love. A wonderful, joy-giving physical awareness the likes of which I’d never felt before. Everyone in the room felt the same thing. I know because we talked about it afterwards.
Overtime, after more experiences with her teachings, there was no doubt. Shri Mataji was a highly evolved, spiritual being. Although she is no longer living on earth, the spiritual awakening she launched continues to accelerate. More and more people continue to become a powerful source of love for their family, friends and the world.
